New Neighbors League Club of Nashville

A Message from the President

Hello, lovely ladies of our New NeighborsLeague Club!

My husband and I recently visited the small town where he grew up and where we lived for 12 years and raised our small children. It is still “Mayberry, USA”. There happened to be a reason for a local parade. As we sat on the front porch with relatives and friends, many old friends and acquaintances went by and waved, while many others stopped by. (It may have been the coffee and donuts that lured them in.) Anyway, it was so good to see and talk to these people, and notice how much older “they” looked! That evening, as I was winding down from the day, I had this
urge to call several people--guess who? I wanted to hear the voices and laughter and share anecdotes with my “new friends” from NNLC!

How truly special new friends and acquaintances are!! They become like family and a part of your daily life. They
help you laugh at yourself and take some of the seriousness out of getting used to new surroundings or getting lost in your own new neighborhood!! They take interest in, and even try to get to know your family, pets and personal interests.

We all seem to instinctively know the value of familiarity and how much each of us want and need our friendships. As members of NNLC, we have so many ways to find each other and enjoy making new special friends!
Recently, I have found out some of our members are “Notes and Quotes” members only. That is great and I want to say a special “Hello” to you. Maybe you have lived around this area in the past and have moved elsewhere—we wish you well and hope you are enjoying your new home, and we miss you. I know that our club also
mails out our “Notes and Quotes” newsletter to prospective members. “Hello” to you also, we hope you will join us sometime in the future—before or after your unpacking -- there are those of us who have come to coffees and luncheons while still unpacking! You are welcome!

We have an “Amnesty Program” coming in August. If you know of someone who has been here more than a year and would still like to make new friends or join our club, please invite them to our monthly coffee and luncheon. They would be most welcome to join in August!

See you soon!
